Minerva Minion D 554D

The Minerva Minion D 554D is an Austrian table radio from the mid-1950s, built by Minerva-Radio in Vienna. With its wooden cabinet, front push buttons and compact proportions, it represents the typical appearance of a well-equipped domestic radio of the early FM era.

Although not a large luxury receiver, the Minion D 554D was a fully capable set for everyday use. It covered the usual AM broadcast bands as well as FM, making it suitable for both traditional long-, medium- and short-wave reception and the increasingly important VHF/FM service of the 1950s.

This example is preserved in unrestored / as acquired condition. It shows the traces of age and use that are typical for a radio of this period. The rear cover is missing, and one button from the front push-button row is also absent. These missing parts are part of the current historical condition of the set and have not yet been replaced.
